5 Rules Of Fashion

Are you a guy who stares at your closet each morning hoping the right clothes will jump off the hanger and attach themselves miraculously to your body? Or maybe you are the guy who if your wife didn’t pick out your clothes you would look like a cross between Ronald McDonald and Dennis Rodman, well fear no more! There are 5 simple rules that if you follow you can confidently take on the day.

  1. Fit First: Baggy is out. I don’t care what size you are there is no reason to wear baggy clothing. Baggy clothing will make you look worse whether you are already thin or on the huskier side. I’m not talking about skin tight here but rather fitted. If you are a slimmer build I highly reckoned slim fit or athletic fitted dress shirts and pants.
  2. Find Your Brand: The truth is different brands size differently even if the size on the tags are the same. This can take some time but try on a lot of different clothes and find the few brands you know you can come back to again and again and will fit YOU the best. Once you have your go to brands shopping becomes a breeze. Don't get caught up in the most popular brands, find the ones that fit you well and make you look good.
  3. Quality Over Quantity: I used to take pride in having a lot of clothes but have come to realize it is vastly more important to have fewer higher quality clothes than a lot of clothes. You will be amazed at how many different combinations of outfits you can come up with only a few different clothing options. I want to stress here I do not mean you have to buy $100 jeans and $75 polos. There are a lot of quality brands out there I would consider “quality” that are reasonably priced. My main point is, even if it takes you a few years, focus on building a quality wardrobe that you know is going to last and look good after the 20th time you wear it.
  4. Personality: This is a really important aspect of fashion. We don’t all look the same or have there same fashion sense and that is great! Don’t feel the need to always wear the latest style. I think you should try to have a unique piece of clothing each day that says something about you or your personality. It could be a watch or bracelet you wear, it could be a special belt or tie. Regardless it is something that ties the entire outfit back to your personality.
  5. Wear Confidence: The most important thing about style is how you carry yourself. If you see a guy in a $3000 suit but he is slouched over, head staring at the ground it doesn't look good! Be confident in how you look. Smile at people. Dont strut but there is a certain swagger you should have that shows that you are a confident NOT cocky guy.
